What is a vCard?
You can think of a cVard as an electronic business card. More technically vCard is a format specification set out by the Versit Consortium with the intention of providing a standard method to transfer contact information between a variety of computing devices, applications and services.
The vast majority of email applications support the import and export of vCards. Depending on your type of computer or email/contacts software, you may see vCards displayed with some of the folowing icons and a '.vcf' extension

You can easily create your own vCard on your computer by adding yourself to your email contacts and selecting 'Export' or 'Save As' (usually from the File menu). When you export your contact, or save it, you should get the option to save it as a vCard.

So what exactly is a MYvCARD Link?
A MYvCARD Link is simply a URL or web address to a vCard stored on the MYvCARD server. The MYvCard Link is unique to a persons vCard.
If I upload my contact details, are they secure?
MYvCARD.net does not share the information stored on it's servers with any other 3rd party. The vCards themselves are stored in such a way that only by entering the correct MYvCARD Link will the vCard become available to download. As the MYvCARD Link is designed to be as short and as simple as possible it may be possible to guess a MYvCARD link and download the vCard. This must be considered when choosing what details to upload. We would recommend only adding the details that are perhaps already printed on your business cards.

Are vCards Safe?
Yes. vCards are simply text files that have been written in such a way that address book software can interpret them. They do not pose a threat to your computer.
Can I update my vCard details and keep my original MYvCARD Link?
Yes. When you are issued with a MYvCARD Link you are also issued a PIN number. To update your vCard details click here and enter your MYvCARD Link and PIN number then follow the instructions.
